Officials from YOKOGAWA Corporation of America announced today that the company will donate $40,000 to the West Georgia Technical College Foundation, in support of its major gifts campaign, Invest in the Next Generation.

“Be a good example,” West Georgia Technical College President Dr. Skip Sullivan told the crowd of graduates and their families in his commencement address. “Be a good example to those around you, to those who look up to you and to those who depend on you.”
By all accounts, the graduates celebrating their achievement at the Carroll County GED Graduation Ceremony last Thursday evening have already set a good example, earning a GED diploma that, for many of them, was decades in the making.
Tanner Medical Group expands in Paulding County

Tanner Medical Group is expanding in Paulding County with a new family medicine practice, Tanner Primary Care of West Paulding.
Tanner Primary Care of West Paulding, located along Highway 120 near Rose’s Store, will offer a wide range of health services for the entire family, including health screenings, physical exams, immunizations, weight management services, sick visits, management of chronic health conditions and more.
The practice will begin accepting patients Sept. 1.
Carroll County BOE discusses Mt. Zion construction project

At the Carroll County Board of Education’s recent work session, Director of Maintenance Mike Beers recommended a change order on the Mount Zion High School construction project in order to build a day-use baseball field, which would cost $245,805.
County water authority completes manhole repairs; automated meter project two-thirds done

The Carroll County Water Authority met on Aug. 19 at the County Annex at 10 a.m, with all voting members were present, along with non-voting members Donald Newman and Tom Grizzard.
The authority’s customer base was 16,639 for July, and the Snake Creek Water Treatment Plant operated at 60 percent, processing an average of 4.76 million gallons per day. Thirteen main breaks were repaired, thirty-seven lines installed and nine water taps were put in.
Carroll County 45th out of 157 counties in ranking of health care considerations, national study says

Carroll County is 45th out of the state’s 157 counties in a ranking of public health factors, according to the study published by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin’s Population Health Institute.
In the combined categories of health outcomes and health factors, Caroll County placed 45th, above Clayton (46) and Irwin (47) counties and below Wheeler (44) and White (43). At the top of this list was Fayette (s) and Oconne (2).
