CHS students make all-state chorus
Five Carrollton High School choral students made the Georgia Music Educator’s Association All-State Chorus this year. All-State nominees have to pass two auditions to be selected for the honor.
They now head to Savannah Feb. 22-25 to join other high school students from across the state in a combined performance featuring world-renowned conductors at the Johnny Mercer Civic Center in Savannah.

WGTC Announces 2012 GOAL and Rick Perkins Winners
West Georgia Technical College named David Crawford, a Computer Support Specialist student from Hiram, as its Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership winner and Computer Information Systems instructor Lee Bradley as its Rick Perkins Award winner.
GOAL is a statewide program of the Technical College System of Georgia which honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state’s technical college students.
WGTC names EAGLE winner
West Georgia Technical College has named Crystal Ogburn as its 2012 Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) winner.
The EAGLE Leadership Institute is a two day event designed to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of each of the EAGLE delegates and provide professional development sessions focused on increasing leadership, communication and life management skills.
Tanner MS Center opens

Loy Howard, left, president and CEO of Tanner Health System, and William Stuart, MD, chairman and medical director of the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Atlanta, cut the ribbon at the new Tanner MS Center at Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica.
They were joined by members of the Villa Rica City Council, the Tanner MS Advisory Committee and members of Tanner’s Board of Directors. The Tanner MS Center will provide infusion treatments for area residents with MS.
Vehicle sought in connection with burglaries

Villa Rica Police are investigating a series of residential burglaries. Detectives have connected a vehicle description to three of the cases.
On 12-16-11, police recovered a video that showed a silver Nissan Maxima backing up to the garage door of a house on Barberry Dr. in Villa Rica that was burglarized. The video shows that the Nissan has tinted windows and an elongated moon roof.
