Delphia Willette Newman, 73, of Temple, Georgia died Monday, May 8, 2017 at her residence.

She was born in Nashville, Tennessee on May 17, 1943, the daughter of the late Theo Perry Willette and the late Winona Geneva Lee Willette. She retired from Fort McPherson where she worked for more than twenty years as a management analyst. She had lived in the Temple area for the past ten years. She was a member of the Red Hats of Carrollton and enjoyed the fun and fellowship she shared with this group. She enjoyed doing any type of crafts and made handbags, decorative pillows and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Walter Newman; two brothers, George Willette and Ausborn Theodore Willette; and a sister, Velma Jean Stockmeyer.

Survivors include her daughter, Angela Morris of Temple and her son, Eric Morris and his wife, Crystal, of Bremen; two sisters, Millie Yevonne Sexton of Dalton, GA and Dorothy Lee of LaFayette, Tennessee; two brothers, Stanley Richard Willette of LaFayette, Tennessee and John Daniel Willette and his wife, Connie, of Manchester, GA; two grandsons, Justin Lee Morris and Brandon Austin Swain; a number of nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday evening May 10, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, May 11, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of the J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Schneider officiating. Pallbearers will be Eric Morris, Justin Morris, Austin Swain, Richard Willette, Danny Willette and Devon Lord. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Atlanta, GA.
