A partnership between the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) and Floyd County Government is making it easier for customers in North Georgia to reserve a commercial vehicle road test by increasing the number of testing locations statewide. Beginning December 5th, the DDS customer service center in Rome, located at 3390 Martha Berry Highway, North East, will join three (3) other DDS service centers in North Georgia for a total of ten (10) around the state in offering CDL road tests to customers who seek to obtain a Georgia CDL.

DDS Commissioner Spencer R. Moore commented “DDS understands that many of our customers rely on CDL licenses for their livelihood, and it is a vital component of Georgia’s commerce. We remain customer service focused and are grateful for the help and support that we have received from Floyd County.”

“The new testing site here in Floyd County will benefit our residents as well as our commercial businesses that depend on CDL drivers,” said Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord.

Georgia licenses over 340,000 commercial vehicle drivers annually who play a critical role in our economy. Governor Nathan Deal’s success in making Georgia the number one state for doing business is expanding our economy. As a result, job opportunities for CDL holders are on the rise. Adding more testing locations, expanding CDL online services and developing a DDS Mobile Services App, DDS 2 Go, are ways the Agency continues to meet the increase in demand.

DDS will begin booking CDL road test appointments in Rome on November 27th. Customers are reminded that CDL road tests are by appointment only. There are also 17 third party CDL testing sites that are state certified for testing along with the DDS locations.

Additional information about scheduling CDL road tests, including reservation fees, can be found on the DDS website at
