Bee-INSPIRED research experience available

Are you an undergraduate STEM major interested in honey bees and their role in urban agriculture?  Would you like to gain cutting-edge experience in research or design and work with community partners on pollination-related projects?  If you answered yes then the Bee-INSPIRED summer program is for you!  This 10-week research and service experience will be held May 20-July 27, 2018 on the campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia.  All STEM majors (including engineering and computer science) are encouraged to apply.

Participants will:  

  • conduct research related to honey bees in labs on the Georgia Tech campus four days a week
  • collaborate with community partners on honey bee related urban agricultural service projects one day a week
  • attend workshops on graduate school and STEM careers and research ethics
  • attend scientific seminars on honey bees and related topics
  • present the results of their work at an end-of-summer scientific symposium

Participants receive:

  • A $5000 stipend
  • A travel allowance if necessary
  • Free on-campus housing at Georgia Tech

Participants must:

  • Submit an application by February 15
  • Be US citizens, nationals or permanent residents
  • Be willing to work with community partners outdoors in the summer in Atlanta. (can be hot, hard work)
