Ramona Mae Minick

Ramona Mae Minick, age 87 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 13, 2017 at Tanner Medical Center Carrollton. She was born May 15, 1930 in Carrollton, Georgia, the daughter of the late Ollie Otis Green and the late Rhoda Bell Ellison Green.

She was a longtime member of Old Camp United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Choir, and a member of the Communion Committee. She loved sports and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She worked for a number years as a substitute teacher with Central School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William M. “Shorty” Minick; an infant daughter, Julie Gay Minick and a sister-in-law, Betty Green.

Earnest Steve Copeland

Earnest Steve Copeland, 67, of Whitesburg, GA passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017.

Steve was born in Carrollton, GA on January 3, 1950, the son of the late E. H. Copeland, Jr. and Helen Shoemaker Copeland. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and retired salesman at Handy TV.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Odom Copeland, daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Jacob Thompson of Buchanan, GA, son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Eve Copeland of Brooklyn, NY, grandchildren, Ryan (Lindsey) Copeland, Tyler Copeland, Triston Thompson, Carlee Grace Thompson, great grandchildren, Skylar Copeland, and Peyton Copeland. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Copeland.

According to Mr. Copeland’s wishes, his body was cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Joel Thornton Frost

Joel Thornton Frost, age 68 of Carrollton, passed away on Saturday morning, December 9, 2017. He was born June 25, 1949 in Carroll County, Georgia, the son of the late Thomas Lee Frost and the late Frances Thornton Frost. He was a United States Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Jeanette Jones; brother, Bub Wallace Frost, and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra H. Frost of Carrollton; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy & Scott Boyd of Carrollton; son, Timothy Joe Frost, also of Carrollton; sister, Evelyn Amason of Bowdon; brothers: Kenneth Frost also of Bowdon and Tommy Frost and his wife, Beverly of New Orleans, Louisiana; grandchildren: Nicole & Mitchell Brown, Chris Boyd, Justin & Nikki Boyd, LaShea Boyd, and Ashlie & Clay Brown all of Carrollton and Scott & Brooke Frost of Macon, Georgia; and great grandchildren: Serria, Faith, Savannah, Paisleigh, Caiden, Karly, and Eli.

Jeanne Lankford Smith

Jeanne Lankford Smith, age 66 of Temple, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017. She was born May 16, 1951 in Carroll County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Thomas Ellis Lankford and the late Agnes Bridges Lankford.

She was a homemaker and a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Veronica Butler.

Frank B. Wynn, Sr.

Frank B. Wynn, Sr. , age 85 of Carrollton, Georgia passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.

A Carroll County native, Frank was born on June 12, 1932 to the late Ruth (Gladney)and Sydney Wynn. After a 33-year sales career with Stone Container of Stone Mountain, Frank retired and he and Marian moved from Hampton back to their hometown of Carrollton. Frank had many hobbies over the years but his first two loves were collecting and rebuilding antique Model A Fords and antique boats. Frank discovered his love of boats when the Wynn's enjoyed many years with family and friends at their cabin on Lake Jackson, Georgia.

Carrie Farmer

Carrie Farmer, age 96 of Carrollton, Georgia, formerly of Austell, Georgia, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 5, 2017 at Tanner Medical Center Carrollton. She was born February 28, 1921 in Coweta County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Sanders Walker Faver and the late Lonie Jackson Faver.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Austell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Harris Farmer, a daughter, Gayle Newsom, six sisters, and six brothers.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Ron & Barbara Farmer of Carrollton and Alan & Kristi Farmer of Decatur, Georgia; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 1:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Minister Clay Henry officiating.

James Lee Studdard, Jr.,

James Lee Studdard, Jr., age 74 passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017.

Mr. Studdard was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 7, 1943. He retired after 25 years of service with Goodwill.

He was a resident at Brookdale Living for the past 8 years in Carrollton, Georgia and an active member of the For the People’s Blind Community. Although blind, Mr. Studdard was active in the local Ham Radio club and one of their “Disaster Radio Operators.” Mr. Studdard was a member of Carrollton… First Baptist Church.

Mr. Studdard was predeceased by his mother Eleanor Acree Studdard and his father, James L. (Jimmy) Studdard, Sr., both of Atlanta, Georgia.

Mr. Studdard is survived by several cousins living in Conyers, Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia and Orlando, Florida.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11 am at the Chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 am until the funeral hour.

Joyce H. Clark Parks

Joyce H. Clark Parks, age 85 of Carrollton, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017. She was born August 10, 1932 in Carrollton, Georgia to the late Comer Clark and Pearl Hendrix Clark. She was a homemaker and was well known as a local artist. She was a faithful member of Beulah Land Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. J.W. Parks; and brothers, Hugh Clark, Harold Clark, and Rev. Bobby Clark.

Survivors include her children, David and Deborah Parks of Ephesus, Dan and Nancy Parks of Carrollton, Donna and Eric Mansfield of Carrollton, and Sherry and Gary Kennedy of Carrollton; sister, Dale Clark Grogan of Dallas, GA; brother, Bill Clark of Atlanta; nine grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Nancy Strickland

Nancy Strickland, age 76 of Temple, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at her residence. She was born January 2, 1941 in Coweta County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Walter Buren Vines and the late Verna L. Wilson Vines.

She was a homemaker and was Baptist by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Strickland, and a sister, Wynelle Chandler.

Survivors include her son, James Moran and daughter-in-law, Reedell Saxon of Temple, daughter, Denise Poland and son-in-law, George, of Villa Rica, daughter, Cathy Morris and daughter-in-law, Beth Morris of Bowdon, and son, William Eric Moran of Seattle, Washington; sister, Catherine Langford of West Point, Georgia; brother, Lawrence Vines of Whitesburg; niece, Terrie Williams; two grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.

Katie S. Rayburn

Katie S. Rayburn, age 77 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday morning, December 2, 2017 at her residence.  She was born August 17, 1940 in Dallas, Georgia, the daughter of the late John William Henry and the late Rinnie Bryant Henry. 

She was retired from Carrollton Nursing and Rehab, having served as an LPN, and she was a member of Christway Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, and one granddaughter, Briana Wilson.
