Tyler Barnes
Mr. Tyler Barnes, age 79, of Robinson Dr., Carrollton, GA., passed away Friday, February 03, 2012. He was born September 11, 1932 in the Farmers High Community the son of the late Eldred McKinley Barnes and Lena Grace Spruill Barnes.
Mr. Barnes served his country in U S Navy as a 1st Class Petty Officer and later retired from General Motors.
Tammy Gatlin Whitmore
Mrs. Tammy Gatlin Whitmore, age 45, of Lambert Dr., Carrollton, Georgia passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012. Tammy was born November 11, 1966, in Carrollton GA, the daughter of Opal Gatlin and the late Henry B. Gatlin.
She was preceded in death by her father and an infant daughter, Chelsea Gilreath. Survivors include her husband Kenneth Whitmore and her mother, Opal Gatlin, both of Carrollton; daughter, Shaylyn Gilreath of Griffin, GA; brothers, Dennis L. Gatlin of Carrollton and Alan B. Gatlin of Hancock, MI.
Dorothy "Dot" Stephens Crook
Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Stephens Crook, age 83, West Hwy 166, Carrollton, GA, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012. She was born June 22, 1928 in Cordell, GA, the daughter of the late Thomas Edmund Stephens and Mildred Juanita Chestnut Stephens.
She had enjoyed a 30 year career in teaching and during her tenure with the Carroll County School System had taught at Sand Hill, Tyus, and Bowdon Elementary schools. Mrs. Crook was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Monroe Newton
Monroe Newton, 68, of Harlan Lane Road, Villa Rica, died Thursday, January 26, 2012, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Atlanta.
He was born in Metter, Georgia, on July 9, 1943, the son of the late Harvey Newton and the late Mattie Miller Newton. He moved from Atlanta to the Carroll County area approximately thirty years ago and was a self employed residential and commercial contractor. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica.
Donald Martin
Mr. Donald Martin, age 85, of Laurel Lane, Carrollton, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012. He was born May 10, 1926 in Rouzerville, Pennsylvania the son of the late Charles E. Martin and Grace Stoner Martin.
Mr. Martin received his college degree in accounting from George Washington University. He retired in 1969 as a Sr. MSgt with the Air Force and later retired from the State of Alabama as an auditor for Public Service Commission in 1991. Mr. Martin was a member of Douglas Chapel Church of God and was an avid outdoorsman and hunter.
Mildred Elizabeth Long Willis
Mrs. Mildred Elizabeth Long Willis, age 94, passed away at Memory Lane Assisted Living in Bowdon, Georgia on January 25, 2012. Mildred was born April 8, 1917 in her parent's home in the Little Vine Community just outside of Bremen.
