This week’s featured pet from the American Veterinary Animal Welfare Foundation is Tiggy. This kitty had a loving home, but his previous owners had to leave him behind when they moved. He is used to living with kids and other animals, and loves to cuddle. Tiggy is three years old, has all of his shots, and is neutered. His adoption fee is $50.

The pineal gland is a pine cone shaped gland of the endocrine system. A structure of the diencephalon of the brain, the pineal gland produces several important hormones including melatonin. Melatonin influences sexual development and sleep-wake cycles. (about.com)

Our Star this week is Deborah York, office manager at Atlanta West Animal Hospital in Villa Rica. Deborah has worked there for thirteen years, and has progressively become more involved in animal rescue.
She recently received a rescue licence with the state of Georgia. Deborah is a founding member of The American Veterinary Animal Welfare Foundation , which features a weekly pet, here at StarNews Online.
A true animal lover, Deborah has eighteen pets of her own (all rescues), including birds, dogs, and cats. She urges anyone looking for a pet to take the adoption route.
